How to type
Write how it sounds. “a” is the short vowel and “aa” the long one (nepaal → नेपाल). Two consonants in a row join into a half letter (namaste → नमस्ते), so add the “a” where a full letter is needed (tihaarako → तिहारको).

About the converter
Why does Preeti text look like gibberish on Facebook?
Preeti is a font, not Nepali letters. Text typed in Preeti is stored as English keys (g]kfn), and only looks Nepali on a computer with that font. Facebook, Instagram and phones need Unicode (नेपाल). Paste the Preeti text here to convert it.
How do I type Nepali in Roman?
Write how it sounds. A plain "a" is the short vowel and "aa" is the long one (nepaal → नेपाल). Two consonants in a row join into a half letter (namaste → नमस्ते), so type the "a" where a full letter is needed (kaaThamaaDauM → काठमाडौं). Capitals give ट ठ ड ढ ण ष.
Does it work for Kantipur text?
Yes. Kantipur uses the same keys as Preeti, so choose “Preeti / Kantipur” and paste it in.
